Fish Study and Lake Condition Report -Summary

Bill Kirkpatrick reported that our lake remains a high quality multiuser lake.

He cited comparisons between Indian Lake and Lake Shawnee.  He first noted that Shawnee is in a high agriculture watershed that contribute to very high phosphorus and chlorophyll content.  Phosphorous content is over 16 times that of our lake while chlorophyll readings are almost 100 times greater in Lake Shawnee.

Regarding our fish density, Mr. Kirkpatrick noted that our fish population is very good.  There will be some minor tweaking but nothing major needs to be done.

In response to a question, he stated that lake drawdowns are good for weed control, but they do not address all categories of weeds.  He further noted that any boats brought to our lake from other water environments should be washed and that any vegetation hanging from boat trailers be removed before launching.  This will help to ensure that no undesirable vegetation is introduced into our lake.
